**Awww**
**Laugh**
**Swoon**
**Tear**
Those were pretty much the emotions that I felt over and over again throughout reading SWEET.
From the very beginning I knew I was going to love Riley and Jessica more than I loved Tyler and Rory (and that is saying something because I added Tyler to my book boyfriend list).
These two had me from the moment Jessica got off the bus and stepped into Riley's grimey neighbourhood;
"Why the hell were you riding the bus?" Riley glanced over at me and he was shaking his head in disbelief, amused. "Do you know who rides the bus?"
"Teenage boys and old men who smell like pee?"
"Exactly." He gave me a small laugh. "Welcome to paradise, Jessica."
Jessica puts her Interior Designing skills to good use and helps clean up the house after Riley receives a letter from the Social Worker regarding an upcoming visit regarding the custody of Easton.
Jessica starts to feel like she can be herself at Riley's, more so than she ever could at her own home.
Jessica and Riley decide to start dating to get to know eachother on another level after a lot of back and forths and misunderstandings between the two of them.
Riley wants Jessica to know that she is someone important to him, before they take their relationship to the next level.
"Luckiest. Guy. Ever." he said, then cocked his finger. "Write that down."
All along the way the two of them had me laughing and their easy going companionship. They may have come from two different worlds growing up, but it wasn't opposites attract for them because inside they had the same personality and complimented eachother.
'I guess we're both fucked, huh?"
"Looks that way."
"Then I guess it's a damn thing we found each other."
Jessica was still fighting the battle between being who she was and being who her parents wanted her to be. When her lies of where she has spent her summer are exposed to her parents she is forced to face them. She will finally have to decide if she is going to lead her own life, or follow her parents rules.
" My last name shouldn't be Sweet. It should be Sour. Jessica Sour. That was me. A bit tart, mouth puckering, acidic mess."
I loved the way Jessica found her place within Riley's family. I wasn't sure how her relationship with Riley's brothers was going to play out since in TRUE Rory became a part of their family (TRUER), but Jayden took a real liking to Jessica more so than Easton in the beginning.
"I rubbed it into his skin and Jayden made sounds of enjoyment. Riley grinned. "You should see his face right now, Jess. I think he's working up a chub."
"Don't be disgusting." I told him primly. 'You're going to embarrass Jayden."
"No, it's actually true." Jayden said, glancing at me over his shoulder.
Jayden's one liners were hilarious in TRUE, but even better in SWEET. (Tears and Abs, Tears than Abs lol)
I loved that Jessica and Riley could joke around together, be sarcastic and not be so serious when together.
"I wish I had been more prepared. I could have really done something romantic here."
"What, like serenade me with Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend'?"
"Hell, no."
"Take me to the bow of a cruise ship and tell me I'm flying, like in Titanic?"
"Uh, no."
"Salsa dance with me to perfectly choreographed moves we magically know while a band suddenly appears behind us?"
Yet the sweetest words could be spoken between the two of them.
"I want you to know that what I believe in is us. You and me."
There is so much I can write about these two, but I don't want to spoil too much. So much happened between these two, good, bad, funny, sad. **sigh**
Great story Erin (and great name for your leading lady **winky face**)...I am going into book 3 with mixed feelings, but luckily I have until January to get myself prepared.
Until my next Blog when I have chosen a book.

SWEET (True Believers #2) By Erin McCarthy Part 1
Sunday, October 20th-Started
We met Jessica and Riley in TRUE (True Believers #1) which was my first Blog post. Finally book two has come out (I know I have been waiting long enough, geez, they knew I was waiting and waiting and they didn't even push up the date for me.. so selfish). This book is about Jessica who is Rory's best friend and Riley who is Tyler's older brother.
Jessica went away to college to get space from her over bearing family. Her father was a Preacher and her mother was his doting wife. She always had to pretend who she was and put a smile on to impress the church community otherwise her fancy clothes were taken away or she was assigned chores.
She was tired of going home to pretend, so when she decided to stay in at school for the summer she needed a place to stay.
Tyler was taking his brothers to Rory's for a week, so he offered up his house to stay.
One problem.
Riley was going to be there.
Riley and his sexy bad ass self, working hard to keep the roof over his brothers head all while fighting for custody over his youngest brother.
Jessica starts feeling for Riley beyond a friendship, but there is so much that is standing in their way and she fears she will be rejected.
This is Jessica and Riley's story and I for one am EXC--I--TED (**Please read in Oprah's excited voice please)!!!
Until my next Blog when I have completed this book.

Black Heart (A Cursed Heart #1) By R.L Mathewson
Sunday, October 13th-Started
Monday, October 14th-Finished
Any book of R.L’s that I have read I have loved and re-read.
This will not be any exception, when book 2 comes out I will be re-reading this and then continuing on.
I wasn’t sure how the book was going to play out and the synopsis does not prepare you for all that came my way while reading.
Tristan always loved Marty and felt that she belonged to him, but because of his ‘issue’ he stayed away for years, in hope of getting over her. His best friend was an Irish guardian named Shayne, he helped to keep the spirits from harassing Tristan so he could live a semi normal life. Before Shayne, the spirits would keep him up, attack him and make his life miserable.
When he was forced to work together with Marty, her as his assistant, he couldn’t resist the connection he felt to her anymore. He was willing to accept all the risks and precautions necessary so that he could keep his secret safe, but still have the girl that he loved in his life.
The story was told from many different POV’s so you had to pay attention to who was speaking, but it gave a well-rounded view of everything.
So much was going on in this story that I can’t even begin to talk about without spoiling the real plot. I am sure that others have already done so, but I refuse.
I am so excited for book 2, so I can learn more of Tristan, Marty, Shayne and many more.
Best swoon worthy line in this book is when Tristan called Marty his “Mo Shonuachar” **sigh**
Great job as usual…don’t make me wait too long for Book 2.
Until my next Blog when I have chosen a book.

Love Struck (Struck Series #2) By Amber Garza Part 2
Wednesday, October 9th-Finished
Okay Okay Okay, stop pushing me.....fine...I will become an Amber Garza fan....twist my arm!!!!!
As I mentioned in part 1 we saw sneak peaks into Lola and Ryker's relationship and I thought I knew what to expect. I was completely wrong.
These two had so much going on it wasn't even funny.
I thought Lola was going to have a perfect life...WRONG
I thought Ryker was going to be the struggling musician who just doesn't want to work and stay young forever...WRONG
Where do I start...
Lola wanted to get as far away from her life in California. When she first saw Ryker, he was exactly what she was looking for. She was looking for fun, easy going, not complicated. Lola needed control in her life and the more time she spent with Ryker, the more it started to slip away.
Ryker knew Lola was out of his league, he was a struggling musician and going to school full-time for business. When he saw her, he knew he had to have her. Before long, he realized that he was falling fast, but he knew he couldn't risk the fall with his secret.
"Even though I'm sure I don't stand a chance in hell with her, I know that I've got to try. There's just something about her; something different.
These two together were oddly perfect. I loved reading about these two and was routing for them to get past the two secrets that stood between them.
In the opening of the book, we are hit with a BAM IN YOUR FACE, BET YOU DIDN'T EXPECT THAT DID YOU moment. So the whole book I was waiting to find the answer as to why that happened and every page I turned I was more excited with what I learned about these two.
They both loved eachother, but Lola was afraid to let him in when she knew that her family would not approve.
"That's why I've never fallen in love. The idea of relinquishing control to another person scares the shit out of me. I never want someone to have that kind of power over me."
Ryker was afraid to admit to Lola how he felt and she not feel the same about him.
"Love is a risk, and I think that before you met me, you hadn't met anyone worth the risk.
I will just like to point out that Ryker's addiction was priceless and so sweet **sigh**:
"When we're not together she's all I think about. I count down the minutes until we are together like an addict waiting for his next fix. The only time I feel contect is when I'm with her."
I have noticed a similarity in all of Garza's books and half the fun is finding out what moral she is trying to get across.
All three books that I have read, I have had a hard time putting down and before I knew it I was clicking to the last page. These are the books I love, that at the end I am telling whoever I can to read this book.
Great Job, once again.
Until my next Blog when I have chosen a book. (who knows, it might be another Garza book, I seem to be on a roll.)

Love Struck (Struck Series#2) By Amber Garza Part 1
Wednesday, October 9th-Started
Lola and Ryker started dating after Ryker discovered Star at an open mic night.
When Ryker saw Lola he knew he had to do what it took to get her.
Ryker didn't look or act like any of the guys she used to date, or that her parents expected her to date, but that was half the appeal.
When someone makes a mistake, can their love last?
Until my next Blog when I have completed this book.

Star Struck (Struck series #1) By Amber Garza
Wednesday, October 9th-Finished
When I read the synopsis of this book I thought I was going to not like Beckett and I was going to feel sorry for Star the whole book.
Well wasn't I surprised when I actually read this book and became a fan of Beckett quickly. The misunderstood bad boy just wanting to not be let down **sigh**.
Star Struck alternated between Star and Beckett's POV and it was done almost scene for scene, so we understood what was happening in both their heads at all times.
Star was infatuated with Beckett from the first time she heard his voice. He didn't carry the usual look of the guys that she went for, but now she compared everyone to him and no one could measure up in her thoughts.
Beckett knew he had to stay away from Star because she was the kind of girl that could prevent him from his dream. This becomes hard when she now is part of his band.
"Star, I've never understood how my dad could choose a woman over his lifelong dream. But then I met you, and I could tell that you were the kind of girl a guy would give everything up for. "
These two had a great connection on and off the stage, the dialogue between these two had me laughing at times as it matched right along with my easy sense of humour.
"See the star closest to the moon? The brightest one in the sky? That's Sirius."
"Okay, well then I will take it seriously."
"Not serious," I say with a slight giggle under my words. "Sirius is what the star is called.``
Beckett had held people at a distance for so long, he wasn`t sure what would come from opening up all his scars to Star. He was worried she would leave him and he knew he wouldn`t be able to take that kind of heart ache again.
``I know I did the right thing. I may not have been able to save the girl who meant everything to me once upon a time, but at least I can save this one. maybe this is some sort of redemption.``
I couldn't put this book down and since I happened to suffer from insomnia last night, this book came up across my sights at the perfect time.
Great job again Amber Garza...I think you have a fan now...don't quote me on this. **wink wink**
Throughout Star Struck, we had the pleasure of getting some sneak peaks into Lola and Rykers relationship which happens to be what book 2 is about.
SO...
Now onto my next Blog about my next book in the series, Love Struck.

Tuesday, October 8th-Started
Amber Garza you have me hooked on your books so I hope that you don't let me down.
This book is part of a series ( I believe 3 parts, but please don't quote me) about the band Beckett.
Star see's Beckett and it's love at first sight.
Beckett see's Star and knows he's in trouble if he doesn't stay away.
I am hoping this book lives up to the expectations that I have for a) Garza's writing and b) sexy rock guys.
WOOOOOO!!!!

Tripping Me Up By Amber Garza Part 2
Monday, October 8th-Finished
Tripp…Tripp…Tripp **sigh** **swoon** **sigh**
“That’s because those girls weren’t you, Hadley. I didn’t care about them the way I care about you. God, I feel like you are the girl I’ve been waiting to meet my entire life.”
This story represented so many real life possibilities for a high school student.
1. Verbal Bullying at school (by former friends)
2. Abusive home life (by father, someone who should love you unconditionally)
3. High school popularity standards dictating relationships (popular vs ‘nerd’)
With Tripp being the Popular Football Star and Hadley being the invisible ‘nerd’ girl, they have an uphill battle to have something as simple as a friendship, never mind a relationship.
Tripp is embarrassed of his home life because of the abuse him and his mother endure at the hands of his father. He hates football, but like everything else he does what is expected of him, not what he truly wants to do. When it comes to friends or his father it is all the same, everything thing he says and does leaves him feeling guilty and more alone. All he wants is to have someone he can trust and is there for him can love him for him and not expect anything from him.
Hadley wants to stay invisible and not endure more humiliation at the hands of Sonya and her followers like she did in her freshmen year. There are things she would love to experience such as school dances, but always feels a little heart broken when no one asks her, no one even sees her. If it wasn’t for her best friend Paige, she wouldn’t be able to get past those heartbreaking moments.
“Oh, let them stare,” Paige says, her gaze scouring the room. “Eat your hearts out, losers!” –When Tripp sits down with Paige and Hadley at the lunch table in the cafeteria
Side Note: Loved Paige…everyone needs a Paige in their lives!
Tripp and Hadley become friends (with a little convincing from Tripp’s part) and start to spend time alone together at home doing the simple things, such as watch TV, have dinner with her family and walk his dog, Bruiser.
When Tripp and Hadley go public with their friendship, jealousy arises and Sonya once again exposes a secret of Hadley’s and humiliates her again in front of the whole school.
Tripp now needs to find a way to get Hadley to trust him again and to realize how he feels for her.
“Just the thought of losing her was enough to make me feel like I was drowning in the ocean.”
This story was beyond sweet and heartwarming, something I could read again whenever I needed a heart pick me up.
It is sad to say, but this story probably has more truth to it than imagination. Many high school students (former as well as current) could probably relate to this directly or indirectly.
When you are popular you are expected to date others that are popular, likewise this could be transferred into a colour, religion or culture issue (etc). You are not expected to step outside of the ‘norm’ and when you do you can possibly be harassed, shunned or made to cast doubt on what you could potentially have with said person. So sad, yet so true.
What I liked about Tripp was that he knew when he made a mistake and for once he knew he had to work hard to prove to Hadley that he could be what she needs and so much more. He knew he had to keep her in his life and finally fight for what he wanted.
“She’s my whole world. Without her I have absolutely nothing. He’s taken everything else. This time I’ve got to find a way to fight back, to hold my ground. “
For me the moral of the story was: Don’t let anyone dictate who you love, popularity won’t last forever, but love can.
**Sigh**

Tripping Me Up By Amber Garza Part 1
Monday, October 7th-Started
Hadley feels like she is invisible in her Highschool, until one day she gets hit in the face with paper by Tripp a.k.a Mr Popular.
He never talked to her before, now he talks to her all the time, but he is popular and she is not, how could he be interested in her?
I love these stories, Mr. Popular meets Ms. Unpopular and he falls in love with her because she see's the real him.
Well at least I hope that is how this is how this is going to go. I feel like I need a sweet read that will leave me going 'awww so cute', so this is what I am hoping for.
Until my next Blog when I have completed this book.

Hell Without You By Ranae Rose Part 2
Sunday, October 6th-Finished
"Time changes everything, except what's meant to be" was the quote of the book and this definitely sums up the book.
Seven years had gone by since Clementine had been home to Willow Heights, but all it took was for her to see Donovan standing outside his truck in the rain in front of her grandmother’s house for every feeling to come back again.
Her plan was to come back to Willow Heights temporarily, until she could land a job in D.C. Clearly fate was against her because she finds herself staying with Donovan in her grandmother’s house (which he now owns) until her townhouse has been repaired from water damage. They find themselves in situations that have them walking down memory lane and back into each other’s life.
Donovan wasn’t the same after he came back from war, but the one thing that never changed, was his love for Clementine.
"My soul has been trapped outside of my body for the past ten years."
"Really?" She gripped her coffee mug, letting the ceramic warm her fingers. "Where is it?"
"Sitting right across from me." His voice went a little deeper, got a little rougher. "Don't pretend you didn't know that."
Donovan didn’t know the reason Clementine left Willow Heights, but when Clementine reveals the truth behind her departure, they both realize this is their chance to have a second chance with each other.
I found this story good with respect to the unconditional love these two shared. There were some parts of the book I would have loved to see more detail with, i.e. Were they in any relationships in the past seven years or did they both wait for each other?
I did like the twists in the book that added a little more to their story line, they kept me on my toes and acting like a Detective along with Clementine. I would have also loved to see more Ricardo especially when Donovan needed his help in Willow Heights.
Overall I would give this book a 3.5, great love story, but would have wanted more to what was already there.
I have read Ranae Rose’s Battered Not Broken books and I loved them both because of the different POV’s, maybe that is the plan for this, because I would love to know what was going on in his head throughout the different points in the book.
Until my next Blog when I have chosen a book.

Hell Without You By Ranae Rose Part 1
Saturday, October 5th-Started
It's been seven years since Clementine went back to her hometown, she was not sure what to expect, but seeing Donovan again, outside her dead Grandmother's house was definitely not something she could have ever imagined happening.
Circumstances leaving her thrown into the daily mix of Donovan's life. They share a past, but so many things have happened in that seven years, she isn't a teenager anymore, she is free to make her own choices.
Even though Clementine left for a reason, the question still remains, can Donovan ever forgive her?
Until my next Blog when I have completed this book.

Simple Perfection (Rosemary Beach #5) By Abbi Glines Part 2
Saturday, October 5th-Finished
Okay, so throughout this book, we are given 3 curve balls. Yes I can tell two of them were in preparation for another book but come on Abbi Glines, did you need to make me cry TWICE during this book? Lezbehonest.
So...
Wood's was trying to keep Della at home, where he knew she would be safe and his mother and Angelina wouldn't be able to get her to bother her. But Della wanted to work and help ease the stress that was currently on Woods' shoulders.
When Della starts working at the country club, all seems to be going well until she overhears and misunderstands a conversation between Jase and Woods.
Della calls Tripp to come and get her so she can allow Woods to find someone who deserves him. She felt that she couldn't be what Wood's needed and didn't want him to feel obligated to her because she might go 'crazy' any minute.
The journey she was on with Tripp led her on the path to rediscovering herself and she found more than she was expecting. Little did she know, that Tripp and her best friend were rooting for her to go back to Wood's the whole time.
Wood's needed Della in his life to breathe, but Della needed to be the one to come back to him.
"I let this happen. I let myself fall so helplessly in love with him. I let myself believe he could fix me. That we could fix me. But it isn't happening."
"In all her twisted perfection she had made me fall helplesst in love with her."
"I want you to be happy with yourself. Because you make my life amazing."
As always I love Abbi Gline's writing and this book lived up to all the expectations I had and gave me some things I didn't even want to read or could think would happen.
In Simple Perfection, I got to see a bit of what to expect in Grant's book (#Grant+Harlow) and in Tripps as well.
Hopefully I am not as shocked in the books to come.
Until my my next Blog when I have chosen a book.

Simple Perfection (Rosemary Beach #5) By Abbi Glines Part 1
Friday, October 4th-Started
This is the continuation of Della and Wood's story, so if you have not read Twisted Perfection, stop reading right now, go buy the book and then come back to my Blog (TUVM). Well actually go read all of the Rosemary Beach series books and while your at it the Sea Breeze series, than come back, because you will have an appreciation for this book/Abbi Glines.
Wood's had his life all planned out for him and when he finally took a stand for himself and the woman he loved he gets a call saying that his dad has just died. Not only that, but the Country Club he was told that he had to earn a spot in, was in fact his and would have been his once he turned 25.
Wood's now has to deal with the loss of his father, learning to run the country club on his own, but with Della by his side he feels that he can concur it all.
Slight problem, Della wants to be there for Wood's in every way she can, but she feels so helpless and she is realizing that she can't run away from her past.
Can she overcome her past without losing Woods?
We shall see!
Until my next Blog when I have completed this book.

The Ladies Book Club Post-Don't Let Go (The Invisibles #1) By Michelle Lynn
The Ladies read Don't Let Go By Michelle Lynn for our September Book.
Synopsis:
Sadie moves to Western College to get away from her former life and start over again. She didn't wake up in random guys bed and be called names and talked about because of the tragedy that was her life.
Brady was the rock star of Western College, but has a secret he is holding and is hoping it stays that way.
Brady sees Sadie walking across the lawn and he knows it is her that he wants to make his. he finds his chance when she comes to his concert, but she leaves before he has a chance to see her.
Finally circumstances line up and they start a relationship. They fall for each other quickly, but they both hold secrets about their pasts that are going to come to the surface sooner rather later.
Book Club Questions and Response:
How we felt about the Sadie and Brady's relationship, on a whole:
Their relationship, compared to real life felt unrealistic and progressed quickly. Their characters could have been created more in depth to feel that their relationship was more believeable. Yes they were both damaged, but Brady was quick to say that he was in love, yet he couldn't expose who his father was?
How we felt about the reason behind Sadie being a (lack of a better word) 'slut'?
This is kind of awkward because it's hard to relate to this. It was both thought about the fact that it may be a little to the extreme, but without going through that there is no way to be sure that this is realistic or not.
How did you feel about Kara?
This girl should have been put into her place. She was all up in Brady's business and the scene where she came to the hospital and was trying to be there for him, but Sadie was told to go home didn't make sense. When Sadie decided to come back to the hospital to prove to Brady she would not leave him, she found Kara lying on Brady's shoulder and he wasn't even moving her off.
How we felt about Grant?
Grant was really built up in this story, it was felt that we found out a lot about Grant, but it makes sense because of the next book we will be better prepared.
How we felt about Jessa?
Her character was the most believable and relatable. She had a lot of spunk and it seemed that she knew what she wanted and overcame enough to be comfortable with who she is.
Overall:
This book would be rated a 3.25 out of 5 because we are hoping for more in book 2 and are thinking this book was just a lead up to bigger and better things to come. This book was good, as there were some points in the book that were interesting and kept us intrigued, but other parts just seemed too far fetched.
We are excited about our next book for October which is going to be Destined to Play by Indigo Bloome, this book is part of a trilogy, so we will actually be trying to read all 3 by the end of November (Destined to Feel #2, Destined to Fly #3) **wish us luck**

The Temptation of Lila and Ethan (The Secret #3) By Jessica Sorensen Part 2
Thursday, October 3rd-Finished
After reading the first two books, Lila and Ethan’s story was inevitable and one that I personally was looking forward to.
Looking at Lila and Ethan you would think they come from two different worlds; Lila-the princess with the money, clothes and lifestyleEthan-bad boy, tattoos, poor. When in reality, they are almost the exact same.
Lila was sent to boarding school at 14, with the expectation of becoming something her dad and mom could finally be proud of. That didn’t happen. After Lila misread the intentions of a boy, her life started on the spiraling path south. It was at this time that her mother gave her pills to numb her pain. Ever since that moment Lila used the pills and sleeping around with guys to keep herself numb.
Ethan grew up seeing his dad beat his mother and verbally abuse her time and time again. He set rules that would ensure he never got into a relationship, nor cared about another girl and put himself in a position where he could turn into his father. Then comes London, who is damaged even more than he is and he feels a connection with her and breaks his rules. After one fateful night, when he decides he can’t watch London do drugs anymore, London decides to jumps out a window after she gets high, hits her head and gets amnesia.
Ethan is left with the guilt of not being there for London and still wondering what could have been.
Lila and Ethan have a strange friendship. The boundaries between friends and something more are always tempted, but never crossed. Lila will call Ethan to have him pick her up the morning after so she doesn’t do the walk of shame and Ethan will tell her his stories about the girls he has been with.
All seems to work for the two of them except for one problem, Ethan feels more for her than just a friend and Lila is starting to want everything with Ethan.
Circumstances occur that leave the two in situations that are tempting the boundaries more than ever.
The question both of them have is, are they willing to risk their friendship for the unknown in the world of love? They both have the worst examples in their lives except for one, Ella and Micha, but they seem to be the exception.
I feel conflicted because I found this story really good, but also really long even though it was about 240 pages.
Their story was necessary and explained a lot about these and leads into the 4th book, the Ever After of Ella and Micha. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed what I was reading and was rooting for Lila and Ethan the whole time. I just got confused with some timelines and felt that it took forever for the something to happen between Lila and Ethan. I thought the tension between those two was going to drive me insane.
Even though I feel conflicted, it still doesn’t take away from the fact that I still have this book on my favourites list and will be reading the next book as soon as it comes out.
Jessica Sorensen is an amazing writer and I am always excited for her next book.

The Temptation of Lila and Ethan (The Secret Series #3) By Jessica Sorensen Part 1
Wednesday, October 2nd-Started
MUST READ THE SECRET OF ELLA AND MICHA AND THE FOREVER OF ELLA AND MICHA FIRST!!!!!!!!!
I received this as an ARC and I am SOOO Excited for this. I have been waiting (somewhat patiently) for this book to come out and when I got the email this morning, I was on the verge of running out of work just to come home and read it.
We first meet Lila (Ella's Best friend) and Ethan (Micha's Best friend) in Book 1 The Secret of Ella and Micha. Fromt he get go, you can tell there is something that is going to happen.
Lila looks and acts like a Princess to everybody, but really she is broken, damaged and keeping secrets all while trying to keep up her image.
Ethan has the bad boy exterior and has kept Lila in the friend category from the beginning.
Over situations they become close and realize that there is something there more than friendship, but becoming attached can lead to heartbreak and that is something they both can't handle.
Until my next Blog when I have completed the book.

Unattainable (Undeniable #3) By Madeline Sheehan Part 2
Tuesday, October 1st-Finished
Unattainable was much more than I expected. I am almost at the point in being speechless.
Almost!
As I said in Part 1 this book was supposed to be Cage and Tegan’s story, but we were thrown a curveball early and it turned into another 4 person story. (read the other 2 books to understand fully what I mean).
We were re-introduced to Ellie (Danny’s friend) and Dirty/Michael (Horseman Brother). Ellie was saved from almost dying from Dirty and Ellie found her safe place with him. Problem with that is that Dirty could not be near her without thinking wrong things; wrong things that were placed in his head from when he was a child. Ellie and Dirty’s “relationship” left the club members mind boggled since Dirty never let a woman near him that was conscious except for Danny.
I found there story touching and in a way aww-inspiring (in a weird corrupt sort of way) knowing what happed to Dirty and how he changed into Michael for Ellie. Their relationship was beyond conventional, but what more could I expect, he is in a motorcycle gang and none of the ‘gangs’ relationships are normal.
This was a curveball I was happy to have read about.
Back to Cage and Tegan.
Man Oh Man Oh Man…
These two were something else, she was left heartbroken after she confessed her love to Cage the morning after he took his virginity and he said ‘it ain’t like that for me babe’. From that moment her life changed, tattoos covered her body, piercings were everywhere, dreadlocks were in here hair, attitude was stepped up 10 notches and she didn’t have a care in the world.
Tegan tried her hardest to stay away from Miles City but when she had to go back to hand off her brother to his father Hawk (read book two to understand) she thought she could come away unscathed. Little did she know that would be another changing point.
Cage knew he never cared for any woman, ‘club whore’ etc except for his TeaCup. When he had another chance to have her become his, he tried to hold on tight and not let go. Life (obviously) never works out as planned, so their relationship becomes an emotional rollercoaster, with misunderstandings at every turn.
Tragedy strikes the Horseman 3 times and all the truths come out, from love, to friendship, to realizing what the word family actually means.
“What I would stress the very most-is that love doesn’t solve a goddamn thing. Love doesn’t erase a broken heart, and it sure as fuck doesn’t change people.”
“From chaos, the strongest sort of love is usually born.”
“This shit between us ain’t ever going to be perfect…..People ain’t fuckin’ perfect, meanin’ love ain’t perfect.”
This book should have a “reader discretion is advised” at the beginning of the book, because at some parts I was like “Oh Snap” “WTF” “That did not just happen”, it is THAT intense on all counts.
Not sure what it is about this series, but I cannot wait until Book 4 Unbeloved which is HawkDorothyJase’s Story (read book 2 and 3 to understand the triangle). I also will not question my love for these books, sometimes love cannot be defined with words (#reallife)
