Wednesday, October 9th-Finished
Okay Okay Okay, stop pushing me.....fine...I will become an Amber Garza fan....twist my arm!!!!!
As I mentioned in part 1 we saw sneak peaks into Lola and Ryker's relationship and I thought I knew what to expect. I was completely wrong.
These two had so much going on it wasn't even funny.
I thought Lola was going to have a perfect life...WRONG
I thought Ryker was going to be the struggling musician who just doesn't want to work and stay young forever...WRONG
Where do I start...
Lola wanted to get as far away from her life in California. When she first saw Ryker, he was exactly what she was looking for. She was looking for fun, easy going, not complicated. Lola needed control in her life and the more time she spent with Ryker, the more it started to slip away.
Ryker knew Lola was out of his league, he was a struggling musician and going to school full-time for business. When he saw her, he knew he had to have her. Before long, he realized that he was falling fast, but he knew he couldn't risk the fall with his secret.
"Even though I'm sure I don't stand a chance in hell with her, I know that I've got to try. There's just something about her; something different.
These two together were oddly perfect. I loved reading about these two and was routing for them to get past the two secrets that stood between them.
In the opening of the book, we are hit with a BAM IN YOUR FACE, BET YOU DIDN'T EXPECT THAT DID YOU moment. So the whole book I was waiting to find the answer as to why that happened and every page I turned I was more excited with what I learned about these two.
They both loved eachother, but Lola was afraid to let him in when she knew that her family would not approve.
"That's why I've never fallen in love. The idea of relinquishing control to another person scares the shit out of me. I never want someone to have that kind of power over me."
Ryker was afraid to admit to Lola how he felt and she not feel the same about him.
"Love is a risk, and I think that before you met me, you hadn't met anyone worth the risk.
I will just like to point out that Ryker's addiction was priceless and so sweet **sigh**:
"When we're not together she's all I think about. I count down the minutes until we are together like an addict waiting for his next fix. The only time I feel contect is when I'm with her."
I have noticed a similarity in all of Garza's books and half the fun is finding out what moral she is trying to get across.
All three books that I have read, I have had a hard time putting down and before I knew it I was clicking to the last page. These are the books I love, that at the end I am telling whoever I can to read this book.
Great Job, once again.
Until my next Blog when I have chosen a book. (who knows, it might be another Garza book, I seem to be on a roll.)
