The Temptation of Lila and Ethan (The Secret #3) By Jessica Sorensen Part 2

Thursday, October 3rd-Finished

After reading the first two books, Lila and Ethan’s story was inevitable and one that I personally was looking forward to.

Looking at Lila and Ethan you would think they come from two different worlds; Lila-the princess with the money, clothes and lifestyleEthan-bad boy, tattoos, poor. When in reality, they are almost the exact same.

Lila was sent to boarding school at 14, with the expectation of becoming something her dad and mom could finally be proud of. That didn’t happen. After Lila misread the intentions of a boy, her life started on the spiraling path south. It was at this time that her mother gave her pills to numb her pain. Ever since that moment Lila used the pills and sleeping around with guys to keep herself numb.

Ethan grew up seeing his dad beat his mother and verbally abuse her time and time again. He set rules that would ensure he never got into a relationship, nor cared about another girl and put himself in a position where he could turn into his father. Then comes London, who is damaged even more than he is and he feels a connection with her and breaks his rules. After one fateful night, when he decides he can’t watch London do drugs anymore, London decides to jumps out a window after she gets high, hits her head and gets amnesia.

Ethan is left with the guilt of not being there for London and still wondering what could have been.

Lila and Ethan have a strange friendship. The boundaries between friends and something more are always tempted, but never crossed. Lila will call Ethan to have him pick her up the morning after so she doesn’t do the walk of shame and Ethan will tell her his stories about the girls he has been with.

All seems to work for the two of them except for one problem, Ethan feels more for her than just a friend and Lila is starting to want everything with Ethan.

Circumstances occur that leave the two in situations that are tempting the boundaries more than ever.

The question both of them have is, are they willing to risk their friendship for the unknown in the world of love? They both have the worst examples in their lives except for one, Ella and Micha, but they seem to be the exception.

I feel conflicted because I found this story really good, but also really long even though it was about 240 pages.
Their story was necessary and explained a lot about these and leads into the 4th book, the Ever After of Ella and Micha. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed what I was reading and was rooting for Lila and Ethan the whole time. I just got confused with some timelines and felt that it took forever for the something to happen between Lila and Ethan. I thought the tension between those two was going to drive me insane.

Even though I feel conflicted, it still doesn’t take away from the fact that I still have this book on my favourites list and will be reading the next book as soon as it comes out.

Jessica Sorensen is an amazing writer and I am always excited for her next book.

Until my next Blog when I have chosen a book.
